Do you have the cutest cat or dog in Myrtle Beach? Enter our contests to find out
Think you’ve got the cutest pet in the Myrtle Beach area?
The Sun News is hosting a competition to find the area’s cutest cat and dog.
We’ll hold two separate contests — one for cats and one for dogs — to see which pets take the top spot.
To see if your pet has what it takes to win, here’s how to enter:
How to enter our contest
Beginning Monday, Oct. 13, we’ll be collecting nominations before putting them to a vote.
After several rounds of voting, the winning cutest cat and dog will be announced on Nov. 3.
The winning cat and dog will then be submitted to a national poll that includes winners from fellow McClatchy papers across the U.S. That poll will be shared across all market, with voting starting on Monday, Nov. 10.
Participants can submit a photo of their pet by filling out our Google Forms online. Readers can submit multiple pets, but must use a separate submission form for each pet.

We’ve extended submissions for our pet polls through midnight on Monday, Oct. 20.
We’ll announce the winners on Monday, Nov. 3.
How voting works
With our new extended submission deadline, voting for Round 1 will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at noon and last until midnight on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Round 2 of voting will start at noon on Monday, Oct. 27, and end at midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
If we get fewer than 5 submissions for dogs or cats, there will be only one round of voting, with voting ending midnight, Oct. 29.
If we receive more than 50 submissions in a contest, to simplify the voting process, a newsroom committee made up of Sun News pet lovers will choose the top 50 from the submissions. Those 50 will move to the public voting rounds.
Once voting opens, readers may vote as many times as they wish.
Votes will reset after each round. The winner will be announced on Nov. 3 on myrtlebeachonline.com.
If you have any issues submitting your pet to our contests via the Google Form, or if you have any questions, please email amiller@islandpacket.com.
Remember: This contest and voting process isn’t scientific — it’s for fun!
