Part of SC 9 in North Myrtle Beach to close for repairs. Here’s what to expect
The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close part of S.C. 9 in Horry County for 15 nights this October for bridge repairs.
Starting Oct. 12, northbound traffic on part of S.C. 9 over U.S. 17 will be rerouted from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday until the end of the month. Southbound traffic won’t be impacted.
“These are scheduled repairs, so it’s nothing insane or crazy, but in order to do the work that they need to do, they do have to shut down that part of the bridge,” said SCDOT media relations manager Hannah Robinson.
The established detour will reroute northbound traffic off of S.C. 9 to U.S. 17, S.C. 90 and Sea Mountain Highway.
For those around the work zone, SCDOT asks drivers to slow down and pay attention.
