Miss ‘Outer Banks’ filming in Myrtle Beach area? Fans get second chance to watch

If you missed the filming of the popular TV series “Outer Banks” in the Myrtle Beach area in July, don’t worry – fans will get another chance to see the action Aug. 14.

The Netflix drama began filming a scene on the Socastee Swing Bridge July 29, 2025, but the set was eventually shut down after thunderstorms rolled through the area. The bridge was closed for the filming.

The Socastee bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway will once again close on Aug. 14 for filming, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. It is not clear when the bridge will close, but it will not reopen until Aug. 15, according to a release.

Traffic will be detoured using S.C. 544. A signed detour route will be put in place prior to the closure, the release said.

It’s also not clear whether boat traffic will be prevented from nearing the bridge. During the first filming, boats were not allowed to be close to the bridge and were blocked from passing underneath during filming.

About 100 people, a mix of locals and tourists, had gathered at the Swing Bridge Park last month to watch the filming of the final episode.

Netflix has not released what it is filming in the Myrtle Beach area for the show’s final episode. However, the show’s two main characters, John B and Sarah, could be seen running on the bridge with a car.

While the series is based in North Carolina, scenes have been filmed in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
