SC childcare center tried to cover up ‘brutal attack’ on toddler, mom claims in suit
The mother of a 2-year-old boy struck in the face by a childcare worker is accusing the Conway childcare facility and the woman who hit him with negligence and trying to cover up the attack.
Le’Monyca Frazier, parent of R.M., filed the lawsuit against Your Neighborhood Child Development Center, 1101 Creel St., and Kabria Hasty.
Hasty, 26, was charged by Conway Police in March with unlawful conduct toward a child. Another worker, Tanyell Wellington, 36, was charged with failing to report child abuse.
State law says a person who works with children is a mandated reporter, and must report instances of child abuse or neglect.
A person who answered the phone at the child development center declined to comment on the suit.
R.M. was enrolled at the development center on Feb. 10, 2025, where he was in the care of Hasty and other workers, the lawsuit said. On March 24, 2025, Hasty brutally struck the child in the face, knocking him off a table and causing him to fall violently to the floor, striking his head, the suit said.
The boy suffered significant, visible injuries to his head and face as a result of the attack. The attack was caught on video surveillance and the center was aware its employee, Hasty, had attacked R.M., but “failed to report the attack and attempted to conceal” it, the suit said.
The suit claims the child’s injuries are a result of the negligent conduct of both Hasty and the center.
The suit, which was filed on July 18, 2025, is seeking a jury trial.
