Two SC daycare workers arrested on child abuse related charges, police say. A boy was hurt

Two female daycare workers were arrested on child abuse related charges in Conway earlier this week.

According to police records, Kabria Hasty, 26, was charged by Conway Police with unlawful conduct toward a child, and Tanyell Wellington, 36, was charged with failing to report child abuse.

These charges stem from Hasty allegedly striking a child while working at Your Neighborhood Childcare at 1100 Creel St. in Conway. This caused him to fall from an elevated surface, resulting in unspecified injuries to his head and face, her arrest warrant states.

The daycare declined to comment on Thursday morning before hanging up the phone.

Wellington’s arrest warrant states that she failed to report the alleged abuse committed by Hasty. As someone who works with children, state law says Wellington is a mandated reporter, and must report instances of child abuse or neglect.

Hasty was booked into jail on March 25 and released the following afternoon on a $10,000 bond, booking records show. Wellington was booked and then later released on March 26 on a $2,000 bond, according to booking records.

The incident remains under investigation.
