Myrtle Beach restaurant to reopen after car crashed through kitchen. Here’s when
A German and Austrian restaurant in Myrtle Beach that recently closed to repair damages from a car crashing through its kitchen has plans to reopen this week.
Cafe Old Vienna, at 1604 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, suffered extensive damage about two weeks ago when an SUV driving south crossed the road, driving in the wrong direction, and made a left turn directly into the restaurant, The Sun News previously reported.
Now, the restaurant has plans to reopen on Tuesday.
The kitchen portion of the restaurant sustained most of the damage. The restaurant said in a social media post after the incident that it was fortunate it was closed for business that day, as someone could have been hurt if they were in the building at the time.
The cost of the repairs has not been made available.
According to a police report of the incident, authorities received a call from a witness after the crash saying they saw two young males in the vehicle. The restaurant’s owner also called authorities after seeing on cameras that something had happened to the kitchen.
The report says that the fire department stabilized the building that night and the owner had construction crews already at the building.
Cafe Old Vienna did not respond for comment on Sunday.
