Update: Pedestrian killed after struck by vehicle on US 501 in Carolina Forest named
A pedestrian was killed by a vehicle while crossing U.S. 501 in the Carolina Forest area on Wednesday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Ashley Todd, 41, of Conway, died after she attempted to cross the highway, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Todd was struck by a Honda SUV traveling north on Highway 501, according to an email from SC Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the collision, which took place in the area of Carolina Forest Boulevard and Highway 501 at 11:19 p.m., according to a Facebook post. The post reported that critical injuries had been sustained. Lanes of traffic were temporarily blocked while crews responded to the incident.
SC Highway Patrol confirmed on Thursday morning that the pedestrian had been killed in the collision.
This pedestrian’s death occurred the day after another pedestrian, Eddrick Brown, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday night in the Bucksport area.
SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
