Update: Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Horry County. Victim named

An Horry County car crash Tuesday night killed a pedestrian, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Responders were dispatched at 9:29 p.m. to the area of Port Harrelson Road and South Highway 701, in the vicinity of the Bucksport community, for a crash involving a pedestrian. Lanes of traffic were temporarily blocked.

Eddrick Brown, 48, who lived in the Bucksport area, died on scene as a result of his injuries, according to Horry County Deputy Chief Coroner Tamara Willard by email.

Brown suffered blunt traumatic injuries from the collision, according to the coroner’s office.

A Buick Enclave was traveling west on Port Harrelson Road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway about a mile from the intersection at Jerusalem Road, according to an email from Master Trooper William Bennet with the SC Highway Patrol.

Horry County Fire Rescue reported that critical injuries were sustained as a result of the crash. On Wednesday afternoon, the SC Highway Patrol confirmed that the pedestrian died on scene as a result of his injuries.
