Heading to Myrtle Beach? Here’s where to find NY-style bacon, egg & cheese
Summer season is underway across the Grand Strand.
With many visitors coming to the area, especially from New York and New Jersey, some look for a taste of home when they’re on vacation.
A bacon, egg and cheese, or BEC as many New Yorkers call it, is a quintessential bodega sandwich. Often served on a bagel or a Kaiser roll with melted orange American cheese, soft eggs and crispy bacon, it can be served with hot sauce, ketchup or some combination of both.
In Myrtle Beach, some folks who moved from the New York and New Jersey region are opening up delis of their own to serve sandwiches that remind people of home.
Here’s a roundup of some delis in the Myrtle Beach region that serve bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches:
1. NY Deli
NY Deli serves breakfast sandwiches the traditional way, on a hard roll. Starting at $4.49 for two eggs and cheese on a roll, meat add-ons include bacon, ham, pork roll or Italian sausage.
2. Kaminsky’s Deli
This deli has been in the Grand Strand for the last 15 years and offers a wide array of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, including bacon, egg and cheeses.
Under “Available All Day,” the deli has an option to create your own breakfast sandwich with one fried egg either over medium or over hard, American cheese and bacon or a sausage patty. The sandwich can be served on a traditional hard roll, bagel or an English muffin.
3. Bagel Factory
Bagel Factory operates multiple locations along the Grand Strand. The owners originally moved to Myrtle Beach from Staten Island in 2006.
Their menu has a whole section for breakfast sandwiches that can be made on any bagel, including plain, sesame seed, everything and poppy seed.
In addition to the classic bacon, egg and cheese, Bagel Factory’s breakfast sandwich menu also includes sausage, egg and cheese; turkey bacon, egg and cheese; pork roll, egg and cheese; pastrami, egg and cheese; steak, egg and cheese; ham, egg and cheese and then a meatless version with just egg and cheese.
4. Leone’s Italian Deli
Located in Conway, Leone’s offers multiple classic New York breakfast sandwich options, including a bacon, egg and cheese.
For $9.99, customers can order The Gator, which includes two eggs over medium, a crispy hashbrown, pork roll and American cheese on a choice of bread.
5. Quagliata Brothers Italian Deli
This Carolina Forest deli has a special name for the bacon, egg and cheese on their menu: “The Long Island.”
Other breakfast menu items include a build your own two-egg sandwich on a roll, a Western omelet on a roll and an egg white wrap with turkey and jalapeno jack cheese.
