A New York-based lunch spot opened in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach
A new healthy lunch spot just opened its doors at Barefoot Landing between Crooked Hammock Brewery and Collette’s Popcorn.
Bowled, which operates locations near Coastal Carolina University and near Surfside Beach where the new Trader Joe’s will be, just opened their third location in North Myrtle Beach.
Customers are able to pick from a variety of different vegetables, proteins and grains to create their own bowl, or pick one off the menu, such as the Protein Bowl with quinoa and grilled chicken or steak or the Farm Bowl with romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, white cheddar cheese and apple cider vinaigrette.
Owner of the three Horry County locations, Kathleen Pingelski, said she is thrilled to be in Barefoot Landing and be able to offer healthy food options.
“In Barefoot, there’s lots of sit down choices, but there’s not a lot of I need to grab something to go I’m on my lunch, and I have a 30 minute break, and I want something healthy, but I need it to be quick,” she said. “I think we feel a quick service need at Barefoot, which they were excited to have us, because they obviously saw that there was a need there for that as well.”
Originally from New York, Pingelski said she noticed a gap in the market after moving to the Myrtle Beach area.
“It’s a New York-based franchise, so we have them in New York, and that’s where I’m originally from, and I will say on every corner you can get a salad, smoothie, or acai, you know, I might be exaggerating a little bit,” she said. “And then there really wasn’t that choice down here in the Grand Strand area.”
The other day at her Conway store, Pingelski said a customer asked her, “if you were stranded on an island and you could only pick one thing off of your menu, what would it be?”
She said it would either be the original acai bowl or a modified version of their spicy green bowl with romaine, brown rice and chicken.
