This SC city among top affordable places in US for spring break 2025. How cheap is it?
From early March to late April each year, thousands of college students and families make their way to the Myrtle Beach for spring break.
So it’s no surprise that the coastal city has been named one of the most affordable and best places to go during this time in 2025.
Myrtle Beach was named No. 6 of 10 most affordable spring break destinations in the U.S. and Mexico, according to travel search engine Kayak and published by Travel + Leisure, an online travel magazine.
It also made the list of WorldAtlas’ top 15 spring break destinations in the U.S.
Both sites noted that Myrtle Beach appeals to families and students with its more than 60 miles of beaches and attractions, including the numerous mini putt-putt golf courses, SkyWheel and the boardwalk. The city also has plenty of nighttime entertainment from bars, to live shows, as well as restaurants and entertainment complexes such as Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing.
What makes the city affordable is its low-cost hotel rates and flight costs, according to Kayak. The average round-trip flight is $364 and an average nightly hotel rate is $189, Kayak said.
The No. 1 cheapest destination was in Portland, Oregon.
Several low-cost flights from several cities across the country come to the Myrtle Beach International Airport. Many of those begin in mid-March.
According to the Kayak survey, the first week of March is the cheapest to travel of any week during spring break. Prices during this time are 19% cheaper for flights and 13% cheaper for hotels.
Other Carolina destinations that made the lists were Charlotte and Outer Banks, North Carolina.
