Jack Axe Throwing has shut down one of its locations after losing its building lease.

Carter Jasicob, the owner of Jack Axe Throwing, said he closed the location near Myrtle Beach State Park in December after the property owner decided to not resign the lease.

“With commercial real estate, it’s hard. You’re at (the landlord’s) mercy,” Jasicob said.

Jack Axe Throwing has another location in North Myrtle Beach, 3606 Highway 17 S, near the Harley Shop at the Beach that will remain open. Jasicob said he’s not sure if he’ll open another Jack Axe Throwing.

The axe throwing business opened its two locations in 2019.

Axe throwing has become a popular pastime over the past decade, with various bars and businesses opening across the United States, according to Dueling Axes.
