A popular TV anchor in Myrtle Beach, SC announced that at the end of January he’ll be leaving his job.

Derrion Henderson has worked as the Morning Anchor for WMBF News in the Grand Strand.

He took to Facebook to publicly announce his departure on Jan. 9. The post received 727 reactions and 282 comments.

In his post, Henderson said he’s not sure what his next chapter will entail.

“As I take this step and allow God to lead me to my next purpose, I want to say thank you for your love, support, critiques, and everything in between,” his post said. “It’s been a ride, and I appreciate each and every one of you who’s been part of it.”

A call to the WMBF News Department was not immediately returned on Friday morning.

In 2023, Henderson won the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Southeast Missouri State University.

On the school’s website, they list Henderson’s previous accolades, which include three Emmy nominations, a National Association of Black Journalists award and ‘News Anchor Team of the Year’ from Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
