Will Black Friday shoppers in the Grand Strand need to don winter coats and gloves for the first time this season?

After what’s supposed to be a sunny and 70 degree day on Thanksgiving Day, what’s the weather looking like for the remainder of the holiday weekend?

According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, that might be the case.

“Freezing temperatures later in the week into early next week,” the Wednesday morning forecast from the NWS Station in Wilmington, NC said.

Friday night the temperature is forecast to drop from a high of 57 degrees during the day to a low of 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

On Saturday, the temperature is predicted to be 50 degrees and sunny, and at night it will drop to below freezing, with meteorologists forecasting a low of 30 degrees.

Throughout the state, temperatures on Thursday night are also expected to drop to below freezing.

Thursday could see some scattered thunderstorms in northeast South Carolina and southeast North Carolina, the NWS said. It is possible for an isolated severe thunderstorm during that time.
