A social media post on a popular Myrtle Beach-focused Facebook page confused some users into thinking that a popular surf shop at Broadway at the Beach had been converted into a Halloween store.
One Facebook user posted on the Myrtle Vegas page on Oct. 27, 2024, that “Ron Jon’s” had been turned into a discount Halloween store. The confusion lay in the name.
Ron Jon is a national surfwear and beach apparel shop and brand with stores at Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. Ron Jon’s was a sports bar near Myrtle Beach at 3218 Waccamaw Blvd. Unit B that closed in early 2024.
The post’s ambiguity regarding whether the surf shop or sports bar was being used for Halloween costumes generated confusion and disagreement among users trying to figure out which Ron Jon was being used as a Halloween store. Indeed, the closed sports bar was being used as a Halloween store.
Imaginations Creative Costumers at 3268 Waccamaw Blvd. operates within the same shopping center as Ron Jon’s sports bar and uses the former restaurant as its discount Halloween Store. Shanna Coley owns Imaginations Creative Costumes and said the discount place will stay open until Nov. 2, 2024.
Coley also said that both stores will have a discount sale Nov. 1-2 to clear inventory. She added that costumes and products at the main store will be half off the original price, and customers at the discount store will get to buy five items for $20.
Coley said that popular costumes this year included Beetlejuice, the horror film character Terrifier, Spiderman and Deadpool. She also said that popular accessories this year included dreadlocks and mullet wigs.
