The selection process for finding the next chief executive officer for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau is underway.

The search committee forms after the Chamber and CVB’s gone without a permanent CEO for almost three months.

According to a press release from the Chamber/CVB, a 10-person executive search team has been formed to hire the next CEO. The press release added that the search should take three to four months. The 10-person committee includes:

  • Former HTC CEO Mike Hagg
  • City of Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune
  • Horry County Council Chairman Johnny Gardner
  • President of Coastal Carolina University Michael Benson
  • Brittain Resorts & Hotels Chairman of the Board Clay Brittain
  • Conway National Bank Vice President Terrance Herriott
  • Vacation Myrtle Beach Chief Operating Officer Matt Klugman
  • Founders Group International President Steve Mays
  • Burr & Forman Partner Bhumi Patel
  • WonderWorks Regional Manager Robert Stinnett

Former chamber and CVB President and CEO Karen Riordan resigned in June 2024. At the time, Riordan said she stepped down to pursue other career opportunities and spend more time with her family.

Since then, Executive Director of the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association Tracy Conner has served as interim CEO for the chamber and CVB.

According to the press release, until hiring the new executive, Conner will remain as interim president and CEO.
