Sun News voters have selected their high school football Player of the Week for Aug. 26, 2024.

Three athletes from Horry and Georgetown County high schools were nominated by their coaches this week for the award, and a Pawleys Island area athlete’s performance during Week 0 of the South Carolina High School League’s football season won him the award.

Waccamaw High School running back Bryce Holloway received the most votes, accumulating 96 percent of ballots cast.

In Waccamaw High School’s 34-0 win against Carvers Bay High School, Holloway rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries. The Sun News will again hold a vote for Week 1 of the SCHSL football season. Nominees will be published on The Sun News’ website Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, and voters will have until 11:59 a.m. EST Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, to cast a ballot.

These polls are not scientific but an opportunity to showcase talented athletes across the Grand Strand.
