Will Burky’s Grill reopen in Myrtle Beach, SC in 2024? What we know about the restaurant
Since closing in December 2023, many Myrtle Beach residents have wondered when Burky’s Grill will reopen.
Initially shuttered due to a fire, the eatery, at 4001 N. Kings Highway, has been closed since. Residents and visitors have taken to social media asking about the eatery, which has been a popular spot in Myrtle Beach for years.
Wayne Burkart, the operator of Burky’s Grill, said in an interview with The Sun News that the restaurant is not permanently closed and still plans to reopen. Burkart has been operating the restaurant for 40 years
“We’re going to resurrect Burky’s as soon as we can,” he said.
However, Burkart said he didn’t have a firm timetable for reopening due to previous delays. He added that he’d know more later in June 2024.
“We’ve disappointed people too long,” he added. “I want to get a firm date and stick with it.”
Initially, it looked like Burky’s would reopen before the 2024 summer season began. In January 2024, Burkart posted on Facebook that the restaurant would reopen in three months, adding in an interview with The Sun News that it would taste the same as before.
“Everybody’s waiting, and it’s going to happen. Things are in work,” Burkart said in January 2024. “It will look like Burky’s, it will taste like Burky’s, and the people will be the same.”
