What will happen to Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures now that it has closed? It’s unclear now that the downtown attraction quietly ceased operations in January 2024.

Meanwhile, what will become of the Pavilion site where the zipline sits abandoned is a question that has gone unanswered for nearly 20 years.

The Sun News reported in March 2024 that the zipline park had not performed well in recent years and was not part of the property’s long-term future. However, there’s little known about what will happen to the now-abandoned zipline plot.

Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures’ operators, who also manage the zipline at Historic Banning Mills, did not return a request for comment. The Pavilion site’s owners, the Burroughs & Chapin-controlled Myrtle Beach Farms Co. Inc., also did not return a request for comment about the now-closed attraction’s future.

City of Myrtle Beach Director of Public Information Mark Kruea said the city is working on a master plan for city-owned property near the zipline park, but those plans have not been finalized yet. Asked if Burroughs & Chapin had discussed future options for the property with the city, Mark Kruea said he was unaware of any such conversations taking place.

The property has sat mostly undeveloped for nearly 20 years, and Burroughs & Chapin has a track record of waiting to develop massive tracts of land in its portfolio.

The city has purchased downtown property in the past, but Kruea added he was unaware of any discussions for the City of Myrtle Beach to buy the Pavilion site from Burroughs & Chapin.
