Santa’s Village, light shows and a camel: Christmas celebrations in the Myrtle Beach area
As Thanksgiving comes to an end and the Christmas trees come up, here are some ways to get into the holiday spirit in the Myrtle Beach area.
Myrtle Beach
Beginning Nov. 24, lights Myrtle Beach will open their Winter Wonderland along the boardwalk, running from Plyler Park to the Second Avenue Pier. There will be a walk-through light show and live entertainment. It will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. every day except Christmas Eve and Christmas and closes on Jan. 1.
From Dec. 1 to Dec. 3, there will be a Family Fun Festival. Santa Claus will be available for pictures, along with s’mores, a holiday drone show and a tree lighting ceremony. There will also be carolers, a DJ and two stages with live entertainment.
Conway
On Nov. 30, Conway will start their annual Rivertown Christmas Celebration with a tree lighting. Every Thursday until Dec. 21, downtown Conway will keep shops open until 8 p.m. to allow people to Christmas shop, meet Santa and hang out with Curtis the Camel. There will also be the “Living Window” displays on Dec. 7, featuring interactive and live window displays.
North Myrtle Beach
The Great Christmas Light Show located at the Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex opened on Nov. 20 and closes on Dec. 30. It will be closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas. Patrons are able to drive through the two mile long light show from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. everyday. Tickets range from $15 to $20 per vehicle depending on what time you go. Ticket prices are more expensive for vehicles with more than 15 people.
Santa’s Village will open Thursday through Sunday starting on Nov. 24 and will run daily from Dec. 14 through Dec. 30, closing on Christmas Day. Guests can park their car and walk around to grab hot chocolate, watch Santa’s Rockin’ Christmas Tree Show and say hi to animals at the petting zoo.
Murrells Inlet
Head over to the Marsh Walk for the MarshWalk Wonderland of Lights this season, all beginning on Nov. 24 and running through Dec. 31. The light show will run daily from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Murrells Inlet says it will be the most spectacular light display yet. Lights will sync up with the holiday music playing and there will be a 20 foot light up tree at the end of Veteran’s Pier.
Santa’s Village runs evenings from Thursday through Sunday and features activities for kids such as a petting zoo, barrel cart rides and visits from Santa. It will close on Dec. 9 for the Santa Crawl, where adults can dress up in festive outfits and grab food and drinks from the restaurants. There will be prizes given out at the end of the night.
