A new 30,000-square-foot hotel is coming to North Myrtle Beach.

Ocean Escape Resort will have 48 bedrooms with 46 bathrooms at 800 Windy Hill Road in North Myrtle Beach.

The hotel will have an in-ground pool, too. The property has a market valuation of about $666,000, according to property records.

Ocean Escape Resort owner Joshua Laniado was not available for comment. The project is not Laniado’s only along the Grand Strand.

A mixed development “condo-tel” with retail space is in the works at 700 North Ocean Blvd., the former location of the Chesterfield Inn in Myrtle Beach, Laniado told The Sun News in 2017.

During his 2017 interview, Laniado added things weren’t decided yet for the property, but construction of a new building is underway as of January 2023, according to Google Maps.

Laniado’s company, Laniado Development LLC, purchased the property in 2017 for $3.5 million but currently has a market value of three million, according to Horry County records.

Demolished in 2012 for a shark-themed min-golf course that soon too bit the dust, the Chesterfield Inn was a historic landmark located a hop from the beach.

Built in 1946 and named after owner and South Carolina native Steven Chapman’s hometown, the hotel hosted the Miss South Carolina pageant in the 1950s.

Designed with colonial revival architecture that served locals and visitors alike, the Chesterfield Inn was listed as a National Register of Historic Places in 1996 before being removed after being knocked down.
