This is our readers’ favorite ice cream shop in the Myrtle Beach area for 2023
The votes are in! The winner of the 2023 best ice cream shop in the Myrtle Beach area is Melt.
This North Myrtle Beach favorite received over 2,400 of almost 5,900 votes in our unofficial poll. Melt beat out four well-loved ice cream shops – Saltwater Scoops near Myrtle Beach, Stella’s in Murrells Inlet and Conway, Meyer’s in Surfside Beach and Bruster’s in Carolina Forest.
We initially took reader nominations for favorite ice cream shops and put the five most nominated in a week-long online poll. Melt also won last year’s Sun News vote.
“We just appreciate all the support and community,” owner Brandon Causey said by phone on Wednesday. Located right off of Ocean Drive, Melt opened in 2017.
Causey said the innovative flavors set the creamery apart – Melt rotates between 60 to 70 flavors.
Sun News readers agreed. Avery wrote, “No matter what you pick, it will blow out your tastebuds!!!”
Melt’s honey lavender, banana pudding and the GOAT (goat cheese ice cream with raspberry swirl) flavors were favorites of our readers. Dairy free ice cream and homemade waffle cones are also on the menu.
“I tell everyone I can’t sing or dance or whatever, but God gave me the talent to create great flavors that taste really good,” Causey said.
Causey said the creative ice cream options along the Grand Strand inspire him to continue to “push the envelope.”
Reader Megan from Cherry Grove wrote, “I’ve had at least 10 different flavors and never have I been disappointed. Their creations are so creative and delicious. You cannot find a better place.”
