Is Conway’s riverfront getting more dining and drinking options? There are clues.
Conway’s riverfront district could boast a high end steakhouse and self serving tap room as the historic county seat continues to see steady growth.
Both projects are in the early planning stages but city documents give a peek into what could be in store for the area.
An upscale restaurant has been in the works for years
On May 24, the city’s community appearance board reviewed an application from Riverfront Ventures, which is looking to open Cowboy’s, a steakhouse, along Second Avenue.
Applicant Trip Nealy was not immediately available for comment but his development team first appeared before town leaders in March 2019 with a proposal to replace the century-old Jerry Cox Warehouse with a restaurant, at the time called “Under the Bridge Seafood, Steaks and Spirits.”
The community appearance board gave preliminary approval to Nealy’s design.
Another self pour tap room may be occupying downtown space
Pawleys Tap and Pour opened to acclaim last spring as the region’s first self-pour site, and it could be that another is headed for Conway.
All that’s known for sure right now is investors behind the “Palmetto Taps” venture paid more than $18,000 for signage and lighting, and its application was in front of city officials in January for a preliminary review.
There’s also a banner at the 909 Fourth Ave. location saying the self-service tap room is coming soon.
