Conway is expanding its nightlife and restaurant scene. Here’s what’s new in the area

Several different projects are in the works to expand Conway’s restaurants and nightlife for visitors and residents. Most recently, a new sandwich shop has opened that has people crowding the former Salvation Army building.

“The Conway area experienced a great amount of growth in 2022,” Brooke Holden, spokesperson for the Conway Chamber of Commerce, said. “Our business community and partners have and continue to increase due to said growth, which has made an economic impact on our Rivertown.”

More than a dozen Conway Chamber members in the restaurant, food and beverage and catering industry have opened their doors in the past year, Holden said.

Here’s what’s new.

Hop N Wich is “serving the demand from the great people of Conway”

From the owners of The Grumpy Monk, Hop N Wich is a new spot that replaced the old Salvation Army store at the corner of Third Avenue and Laurel Street in Conway. The restaurant serves classic American dishes such as burgers, salads, and plenty of beers on tap, as well a space for live music.

The restaurant said in a social media post that since its soft opening on Dec. 6, the community has responded in a positive way.

A new ice cream store is on the way. Here’s when and where

Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream, a Murrells Inlet based ice cream shop, is opening its second location on Fourth Avenue in Conway.

The ice cream shop also serves handcrafted cakes and other delicacies. You can view the menu online.

“The small town feel and tight knit relationships are the exact reasons we chose downtown Conway to grow our roots,” the website says.

According to a social media post, the ice cream shop will open in the spring next year.

Local restaurants take opportunity to renovate and expand

According to Conway Chamber of Commerce spokesperson Brooke Holden, the Crooked Oak Tavern on Laurel Street expanded its building in September.

A social media post from the restaurant shared photos of construction crews working on expanding the square footage, adding in more wooden flooring and brick walls.

National food chains make their way to Conway, SC.

Aside from local restaurants, some nationwide chains have chosen to expand in the Conway area. A Chipotle opened near the start of the school year at the Tradewinds Plaza, near a Food Lion and an Egg’s Up Grill.
