Jason Greene was hired as the new CEO of the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance on May 3 on a 14-1 vote to run the alliance on a $180,000 base salary that includes the potential for a $20,000 bonus, according to terms of the contract provided to The Sun News.
The Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance sent out a newsletter on Tuesday, May 2, the day before the board meeting and vote welcoming Green as the new CEO.
There was no discussion about terms of his contract during the public board meeting held on Zoom and the entire process took less than two minutes.
Board member Mary Jo Rogers voted against Greene’s hiring while Meagan Michal, interim director for Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, recused herself. Greene resigned as Habitat’s leader to take over the alliance.
Rogers did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Greene’s base pay is $20,000 more than what former CEO Amy Barrett earned.
