TikTok video shows Myrtle Beach officers pointing guns at occupied car on Ocean Boulevard
A viral TikTok video shows several police officers pointing their guns as they run up to an occupied car on Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Boulevard over the weekend.
The video shows a crowd of people on both sides of the road watching as three officers run over to what appears to be a Dodge Charger, which had stopped behind a police vehicle in the median.
The driver had been headed south but parked as the officers ran up from behind the vehicle near Peaches Corner, a restaurant located off of 9th Avenue North.
Police can be heard in the video yelling at them to get out of the car.
It is not clear what led up to the events in the video, but the two people who exited the vehicle were immediately handcuffed.
It appears the man who was driving was removed from the car, while the woman in the passenger seat got out on her own. It is not clear if they had a weapon.
A spokesperson from the Myrtle Beach Police Department said Monday he was looking into the event after The Sun News sent a text message requesting comment.
Multiple people in the video can be seen with their phones out, appearing to record the incident.
The video was posted Saturday by user@theeiphoneuser and has garnered over 800,000 page views since then.
The viral arrests comes as thousands of people visit Myrtle Beach ahead of the summer tourism season.
