The U.S. Civil Air Patrol has joined the multi-agency search in the case of a missing Horry County boater that has captured the attention of thousands nationwide.

Tyler Doyle, of Horry County, was last seen wearing a camo jacket and khaki pants while duck hunting on a 16-foot jon boat on Jan. 26, officials have said. His boat sank after taking on water near a Little River jetty.

The family of Doyle announced the U.S. Civil Air Patrol would join the search at a prayer vigil Sunday evening.

According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the leading agency, the U.S. Civil Air Patrol is scheduled to have a plane in the air Wednesday to search for Doyle.

SCDNR met heavy seas Tuesday while searching inside of the Little River jetties, the department said in a release.

“The ocean didn’t get any friendlier in the afternoon, and volunteer rescue group Wings of Hope flew its drone along the beaches,” the release, sent Wednesday morning, said.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office took a group of K9s and their handlers to search the beaches south of the jetties and on Sunset Beach yesterday, according to SCDNR.

Search operations will continue as scheduled, weather permitting, the department said.
