One of Horry County’s historically Black communities — Bucksport — is on the verge of a transformational change.

That’s because, county officials said, a new industrial marine park is set to win final approvals in just a few weeks.

Bucksport residents said the project has put their community at a crossroads: The industrial park could bring well-paying jobs to residents, or it could entire future development that eventually prices people out of their homes.
