How you can help struggling Grand Strand Humane Society find a new home in Myrtle Beach

The Grand Strand Humane Society is seeking donations and community support as part of its search for a new home.

The former facility, located on Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach, was infested with rodents, forcing staff and animals to relocate to Tanger Outlets on U.S. Highway 501 temporarily. The group has now launched a $6 million capital campaign and asks the community for donations.

The no-kill animal shelter has seen a 25% increase in animals needing help sparked by rapid growth in the area, according to a news release sent from the Grand Strand Humane Society.

A committee has been established to run the campaign, and a few specific goals have been set for the fundraising campaign. In particular, the society is looking for 6-10 acres of land for donation or purchase in the city of Myrtle Beach, pledges for $100,000 or more in donations for multiple years and any other amount of donations. All donations are tax-deductible.

“Our goal is simple. We strive to rehabilitate and save the lives of every animal that enters our facility and find them the loving home they deserve,” the release reads.
