Officials don’t believe homicide or suicide was the cause of a homeless woman’s death, but provided little other detail about the investigation.

The woman found dead at Mill Pond Road and Horseshoe Circle near Socastee has not been publicly identified. Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said the woman was 24 and from the Myrtle Beach area.

The Horry County Police Department announced Monday they were conducting an investigation just outside Socastee, according to the agency’s Facebook page.

The department revealed it was a death investigation in the comments section of the Facebook post, which did not initially specify what kind of investigation police were conducting.
