Forecasters confirm EF-0 tornado touched down along Myrtle Beach oceanfront

A confirmed tornado caused minor damage in Myrtle Beach on Friday afternoon, forecasters confirmed.

An EF-0 tornado, with winds reaching 75 mph, touched down between 74th Avenue North and 75th Avenue North, according to the National Weather Service. The EF-0 is the weakest type of tornado on the Fujita tornado scale.

There were no reported injuries in the tornado.

People along the beach and at nearby hotels captured photos and video of the tornado along the oceanfront. The winds kicked up beach chairs and umbrellas as it moved along its block-long path.

The tornado came as storms from the remnants of Cyclone Beta passed through South Carolina.
