Tornado touches down near Myrtle Beach oceanfront, sending chairs and umbrellas flying

A tornado briefly touched down in Myrtle Beach near 75th Avenue North Friday afternoon.

Video and photos show the tornado touching down along the beach and sending umbrellas, beach chairs and other equipment flying in the wind. There is no word on reported injuries.

The tornado touched down as stormy weather moved through Horry County.

Myrtle Beach Fire Department officials ask people to be careful near 75th Avenue North as there might be debris along the beach.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service said the remnants of post-tropical Cyclone Beta passes through the area today through Sunday morning. It is expected about .5 inches of rain to fall in the area as the storm impacts South Carolina.
