House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach announces temporary closure as COVID-19 spikes
The Grand Strand’s House of Blues announced via Facebook on Sunday that it is temporarily closing.
With concert venues still on the list of businesses S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster has barred from reopening out of concern of the spread of the coronavirus, the North Myrtle Beach venue had been operating primarily as a bar and restaurant.
“The health and safety of our employees, patrons and our community are our top priority. And in these unprecedented times, this priority continues to guide our business decisions. For this reason we are CLOSING TEMPORARILY,” the Facebook post reads.
According to the House of Blues’ website, Sunday’s weekly “World Famous Gospel Brunch” was canceled.
“Thank you for your patronage and understanding. Stay healthy — Stay safe,” the Facebook post concludes.
The COVID-19 outbreak forced the House of Blues to cancel several concerts with well-known musical artists such as Blue October, Morgan Wallen, Colt Ford, 311, Yo Gotti and Incubus.
McMaster ordered that all restaurants and bars close in-house service on March 17. The governor announced May 8 that restaurants could reopen for limited in-house dining May 11.
Numerous restaurants in Horry County temporarily closed, though many reopened in a matter of days or weeks.
Horry County has seen coronavirus cases spike in the last two weeks. In the last week, 1,056 cases were announced by the Department of Health and Environmental Control. There were more than 800 the previous week.
