Updates: Myrtle Beach’s coronavirus cases continue to skyrocket, breaking past records
The Myrtle Beach area’s confirmed coronavirus cases grew by 183 on Wednesday, according to the latest information from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Wednesday’s announcement was a new daily record for the area.
This brings the total cases to 2,372 in the area since the pandemic began. There have been 42 deaths.
Here are updates from across the Grand Strand area:
- Georgetown County now has 286 coronavirus cases and three deaths.
- Across the state there now have been 27,842 cases and 683 deaths. The total grew by 1,291 cases on Wednesday.
- State leaders and health care professionals are literally begging you to wear a mask in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
- New York leaders asked residents traveling to South Carolina to quarantine when they arrive. This is a reversal of when South Carolina leaders asked the same of New Yorkers earlier in the Pandemic.
- Myrtle Beach tourist attractions will not have foreign J-1 students working in their businesses this season due to a decision made by the White House.
- Coastal Carolina Employees could face up to a 20 day furlough as university leaders decide how to adjust to expected economic shortfalls.
