Horry County Coroner names person found dead on Myrtle Beach coast

A 20-year-old man was found dead along the Myrtle Beach oceanfront last week.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the victim as Brian Tyler Smith of Clover.

Edge said Smith drowned four or five days before his body was found. Smith was never reported missing, Edge said.

Myrtle Beach police officers responded to the beach near 82nd Avenue North around 4:45 p.m. on April 13 after a dead person was found. Myrtle Beach police Cpl. Thomas Vest confirmed they found a body along the beach.

Officers are investigating and have not released information on how the person died.
