Myrtle Beach police investigate after dead body found along oceanfront

Myrtle Beach police are investigating after a deceased person was found along the beach Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the beach near 82nd Avenue North around 4:45 p.m. after a dead person was found. Myrtle Beach police Cpl. Thomas Vest confirmed they found a body along the beach.

Police are investigating and have not released information on how the person died.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim.

As the area deals with the coronavirus outbreak, the beaches remain open, but the public accesses are closed. That means only those with private accesses are supposed to be utilizing the beaches.

Last week, a 17-year-old died after drowning in the ocean off of North Myrtle Beach.
