Power lines fall and trap Horry County Fire Rescue medic unit transporting patient

An Horry County Fire Rescue medic unit was trapped under a fallen power line and damaged during severe weather Monday morning.

Lines fell across the medic unit transporting a patient on U.S. 501 near East Cox Ferry Road, said Tony Casey, HCFR spokesperson.

The ambulance was damaged by the downed power lines, but there were no reported injuries. The patient was transported to another medic unit and taken to the hospital, Casey said.
