Weather updates: Thunderstorms pass through Horry County

Heavy winds and rain are sweeping through as thunderstorms are bearing down on the Horry County area Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the Myrtle Beach area, with possible wind gusts up to 45 mph, the NWS Wilmington reports. Storms could bring damaging wind and heavy rain, forecasters say. Horry County is under a tornado watch, as well as wind and high surf advisories.

The NWS has issued an airport weather warning for Myrtle Beach International Airport.

The “greatest severe weather risk” for the Grand Strand is between 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., forecasters at the NWS Wilmington said. By tonight, skies are forecast to be mostly clear, with a low of around 60 degrees.

Here are live updates of power outages across Horry County.
