A Loris man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 701 Tuesday evening, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

James Edward Oxendine, 49, died from injuries in the crash on U.S. 701 near Allsbrook Road, said Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner.

A 2007 Dodge Caliber was driving south on U.S. 701 when it crossed the center line and hit a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, said Brian Lee, Master Trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash happened about 5:45 p.m.

The driver of the Dodge died in the crash, Lee said.

The pick-up truck driver went to the hospital, he said.

SCHP is investigating the wreck.
