S.C. 544 lanes will close for paving. Here’s where and when to avoid the areas

Nightly lane closures are in effect as workers resurface a portion of S.C. 544, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The section of S.C. 544 from Jackson Bluff Road to Gravelley Gulley Circle will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday, SCDOT officials state. Lane closures will be in effect through May 31.

Drivers should expect traffic congestion and use caution through the work zones, SCDOT officials warn. Drivers are also asked to use alternative routes during paving times.

The project is funded through gas tax revenues as part of the department’s 10-year plan to improve state roads and bridges, according to SCDOT.
