Raw eggs dripping, no dates on food: Myrtle Beach-area restaurant scores low grade
Raw eggs dripping onto ready-to-eat food and dishes that were not properly sanitized were found during a health inspection at a Myrtle Beach-area restaurant, according to an inspection report.
La Olanchana, at 4245 Socastee Blvd., scored an 80 percent during a routine inspection Wednesday by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The restaurant lost points during the inspection for having raw eggs stored above containers holding ready-to-eat foods and eggs were dripping on the containers of food, the report states. Dishes were not sanitized after the “wash and rinse” step, according to the report.
Food was not held at the proper “cold holding” temperature, and there were no date markings on cooked chicken, beef, tomato sauce and raw vegetables during the inspection. An open box of to-go cups were stored on the floor, the report states.
DHEC conducts inspections based on what it calls a “snapshot in time” of retail food establishments’ employee behavior and preparation practices. Inspections are annually or quarterly, depending on the restaurant’s food processes and compliance history.
