Mold, grime, food stored on floor: Broadway at the Beach spot gets low health inspection
A Broadway at the Beach restaurant and a Myrtle Beach-area Italian Pub were found in unclean conditions by a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control inspector, according to reports.
Senor Frogs and Office Italian Pub recently scored lower during routine health inspections. DHEC conducts inspections annually or quarterly based on what it calls a “snapshot in time” of retail food establishments’ employee behavior and preparation practices.
Broadway at the Beach restaurant Senor Frogs scored an 88 percent during a Feb. 12 inspection for not meeting the proper criteria during a chemical test of the dish-washing machine, a report states.
The restaurant was also not following proper cooling time and temperatures and was cooling chicken in a “tightly covered pan” in a walk-in cooler, the inspection states. Senor Frogs lost additional points during the inspection for storing boxes of food on the floor in a freezer.
Office Italian Pub, at 960 Lake Arrowhead Road in the Myrtle Beach area, was also handed an 88 during a Feb. 10 inspection. The restaurant lost points for not having soap or paper towels at the kitchen hand sink, having grime build-up on a can opener blade and grease build-up on the exterior of cooking equipment, according to the inspection.
