MarshWalk tasting, tribute band, art: Here’s what events are coming to the Grand Strand

The Myrtle Beach area will soon have a chance to enjoy music from a tribute band, check out local artists’ work and taste some food on the inlet.

Several area events are coming up through the end of January along the Grand Strand. From the Carolina Opry, to Market Common to the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, here’s what is in store over the next few weeks:

Arts & Music Funk Fest at Market Common in Myrtle Beach is calling all beer enthusiasts and local artists for drinks and music from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 25. There will be limited beer released throughout the festival, which is presented by Wicked Weed Brewing, and other brews available all day, according to the website.

Seventh annual Taste of the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 25-26, offering “a good time for great flavors.” The event allows folks to sample chefs favorite dishes from eight restaurants on the MarshWalk. Small-dish tastings will include local seafood and other dishes for $3 to $5 per sample, according to the MarshWalk’s website. There will also be live music, local artists, jewelry designers and crafters at the event.

Stayin’ Alive - a Bee Gees tribute band will perform at the Carolina Opry at 7 p.m. Saturday, featuring oldies and a production of big-screen video clips, photos and “dazzling imagery,” according to the Carolina Opry website. Tickets may be purchased online, by calling 800-843-6779 or at the box office.

Restaurant Week South Carolina continues on the Grand Strand through Sunday with area restaurants offering multi-course meal specials.
