A Myrtle Beach Walmart has plans to open a new liquor store. Here’s what we know

A Myrtle Beach area Walmart has plans to increase consumer convenience by bringing a liquor store to its busy store.

Plans submitted earlier this week by Florida-based architecture and engineering firm CPH and Kansas-based firm BRR Architecture, Inc calls for the construction of a 5,124 square-foot building in the parking lot of the Walmart Superstore located at 541 Seaboard St. in Myrtle Beach. The building would house a standalone Walmart liquor store, according to plans.

Existing Walmart liquor stores, primarily located in Florida, sell wine, beer and spirits. The proposed store would be adjacent to Total Wine and Costco.

Project engineer Shummer Rodick said a construction start date has yet to be determined but speculates it could start around May. She said her company, BRR Architecture, has overseen 16 other similar Walmart projects in Florida.

The application is scheduled to go before the Community Appearance Board on Jan. 16.
