Horry County Schools transportation official retires following DUI arrest

An Horry County Schools transportation official retired Monday morning following a driving under the influence arrest earlier this month.

James Floyd Wright, who serves as the executive director of transportation for the district, was arrested by S.C. Highway Patrol on Dec. 5 near Highway 707 and Big Block Road.

His retirement is effective immediately, according to Horry County Schools Spokesperson Lisa Bourcier.

At the time he was pulled over, Wright smelled of alcohol and refused to a breathalyzer test, according to the officer who pulled him over.

Wright was charged with a DUI and a seat belt violation. He was immediately placed on administrative leave.
