Pedestrian killed in early morning crash in Little River

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Little River early Friday morning.

Romeo Gregorio, 45, died of injuries sustained during the collision, said Michelle McSpadden with Horry County Coroner’s Office. Gregorio was originally from Guatemala but recently lived in Little River, she said.

A 2001 Saturn hit Gregorio in the fast lane on S.C. Hwy 9 about 6 a.m., Lance Cpl. David Jones with SCHP said. The crash happened near North Strand Nissan.

The driver of the vehicle did not suffer injuries, Jones said.

This is the second pedestrian killed this week in the northern part of the county.
