Coronavirus live updates May 27: Here’s the latest in the Myrtle Beach area

Free coronavirus testing is coming to Horry and Georgetown counties beginning this weekend, thanks to Tidelands Health and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The first testing center will open Saturday at the Pelican Stadium in Myrtle Beach. Testing locations and a schedule may be found here.

Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area May 27.

Cases of the coronavirus have reached 382, with 22 virus-related deaths in Horry County since mid-March, according to DHEC. So far this week there have been six newly confirmed cases of the virus in Horry County.

Just over 70 cases of the virus have been announced in Georgetown County, along with three deaths.

Virus cases across South Carolina have reached more than 10,400 as of noon Wednesday. There have been 446 COVID-19 related deaths in the state.

Wash your hands & weather update

Here is your daily reminder to wash your hands and practice social distancing. Health officials say washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Guidelines for social distancing are still in place and health experts recommend maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet.

Tropical Storm Bertha formed just off the South Carolina coast Wednesday morning and has now made landfall in the southern part of the state. Double Red flags are up in Myrtle Beach, which means swimming is currently prohibited.
