Coronavirus updates April 30: Myrtle Beach votes to reopen hotels, short-term rentals
Hotels and short-terms rentals within the City of Myrtle Beach will officially reopen Friday after being temporarily shutdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
City leaders voted Thursday morning to reopen accommodation services. Horry County, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach and Georgetown County hotels and short-term rentals will also reopen Friday.
Pawleys Island Town Council voted Thursday afternoon to move the end of the ban on reservations at hotels and short-term rentals up to May 8. The council had voted Monday to ban them through May 14.

There have been a total of 12 new coronavirus cases announced this week in Horry County, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Last week, there were 20 new cases announced. Grand Strand doctors said this week that the number of cases has plateaued in the area.
As of Thursday morning, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 211, with 15 deaths in Horry County, according to DHEC.
There are 40 cases in Georgetown County, with three deaths, DHEC reports.
Cases across South Carolina have reached 5,881 and there have been 232 deaths, according to DHEC.
