Another Horry Schools Nutrition Services employee tests positive for coronavirus

A second Horry County Schools employee working since the closure has tested positive for coronavirus, the district reported Thursday.

The Nutrition Services employee was working at South Conway Elementary School, but hadn’t reported to work since March 27, according to HCS spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier.

Due to the length of time, the district decided in consultation with state Department of Health and Environmental Control officials to keep the site open for student lunch services, but it will receive additional cleaning and disinfection out of an abundance of caution, the district’s email states.

The news comes a day after the district reported its first coronavirus case in a Nutrition Services employee at Socastee Elementary.

In both cases, HCS reports the employees were pre-screened by a school nurse and did not show symptoms. The district can’t provide any additional information about the employees or their current health condition.
