Horry County, Myrtle Beach see more coronavirus cases and another death in latest update
Horry County saw another coronavirus death and a significant increase in its total number of COVID-19 cases, according to the latest state data.
There are now 76 positive COVID-19 cases in the Myrtle Beach area, up from 64 cases as of Sunday. The figures were updated by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control on Monday.
Six people have died in the Myrtle Beach area as a result of coronavirus. The latest death was an elderly person with underlying health conditions.
In South Carolina, there are 2,232 coronavirus positive tests and 48 deaths.
The data was released as Gov. Henry McMaster ordered a “work-or-home” order for all South Carolina. The rules start Tuesday at 5 p.m. He also issued an order that limits how many people are allowed in a retail store at a given time.
Health officials continue to stress the importance handwashing and social distancing to help slow the spread.
